As an active hurricane season winds down, homeowners in coastal Alabama may be considering investing in making their home more hurricane-resistant, or buying a home that’s already built to withstand natural disasters.
In September, Alabama celebrated 50,000 homes built to a “Fortified” standard. Having more of these homes in the state, they said, would help protect the state’s two coastal counties in the event of a hurricane.
